Bird's Eye View Lodge is located on the banks of the Crooked Tree Lagoon and offers some of the best birdwatching opportunities in Belize. The highlight months are March and April when the waters in the lagoon are low and flocks of Jabiru and Roseate Spoonbills come to feed in shallow lagoon.

Rooms: on the ground floor are spacious with two double beds. On the upper level rooms lead directly onto a shared terrace with views over the lagoon. Spacious deluxe rooms are available on the terrace and have fridges and coffee makers. All rooms have air-conditioning.

Dining: occurs at set times in the dining room or open terrace. A set menu is served which changes daily, breakfast includes local dishes such as fry jacks and johnny cakes, with locally made jams and cashew nut butter. Dietary requirements are catered for. There is an honesty bar that serves cocktails, wine, beer and the local cashew nut wine.

Onsite: There are trails marked from the lodge that you can walk self guided or take an early morning guided birdwalk or evening walk. The guided boat trip on the lagoon is not to be missed, leaving at 6.30am your guide will take you on the lagoon and through the backwaters to spot a variety of birds and wildlife. You may see 5 types of heron, Roseate Spoonbills, Jabiru Storks, parrots, kingfishers, egrets, howler monkeys and iguanas.

Nearby Excursions: Trips can be arranged to see Altun Ha or Lamanai Mayan Ruins.

Our Comment: This is a very lovely, authentic Belizean lodge with warm and welcoming staff. The lodge has a superb setting on the lagoon and ideal place for birdwatchers and nature lovers to spend a couple of days.
