Chan Chich is a premier Belize jungle lodge that is located on a 130,000 acre private nature reserve in Northern Belize. The reserve is one of the best places in Belize to see a jaguar in its natural habitat, this coupled with over 350 species of bird and highly knowledgable guides makes it a top choice for nature enthusiasts. However, it is an equally popular choice for honeymooners or those looking for a unique and extra special destination.
Getting there The easiest way to arrive at this remote location is by chartered plane to the Gallon Jug airstrip.
Rooms are in 12 individual thatched roof cabanas that are fully screened with ceiling fans and have wraparound verandas. Upgrade to a deluxe cabana that features large, luxury bathroom, closet and mini-bar. In addition there is a luxury two bedroom villa with air-conditioning and outdoor living areas, one with a private jacuzzi and outdoor shower.
Dining is excellent, with good daily choices and can occur on the veranda or screened-in dining area.
Activities: There are over 9 miles of trails that can be explored independently or with a guide. The lodge offers guided nature, birdwatching and ecology walks both during the day and at night with their expert guides. Guided horse-riding and canoeing is available through the lodge. Alternatively a number of vehicle tours are offered daily and at night. There is also a screened-in pool and Jacuzzi onsite.
Our comment: One of the best Belizean jungle lodge experiences, very friendly staff and excellent service. Particularly good for birdwatchers, you can even observe a variety of birds whilst dining on the veranda.
