A small beachfront resort that is close to the friendly Garifuna village of Hopkins and offers air-conditioned double rooms in a courtyard style around a freshwater pool. The resort is in a great location being only 30 minutes boat ride to some spectacular snorkelling and diving in the Southwater Caye Marine Reserve and a short drive to inland activities such as hiking in protected areas of the Cockscomb Wildlife Sanctuary and Mayflower Bocawina Park.
Getting There requires a short propeller flight from Belize City to Dangriga, and then a 35 minute transfer to resort.
Rooms have air-conditioning, ceiling fans, Cable TV and either one queen bed or two doubles. A suite is available with kitchen facilities for families, and for larger families and groups the option to rent the beach house.
Dining can occur under a beautiful thatched palapa overlooking the beach and Caribbean Sea or inside the restaurant. The hotel and restaurant are run by the renowned Chef Rob and his gourmet dinner menu changes daily based on availability of fresh local produce.
Onsite facilities include sandy beach, freshwater pool and complimentary bikes available for guests to explore the nearby village. Kayaks and snorkel gear are also available for use on the property. There is also a dive shop onsite that offers diving trips to the Barrier Reef and to the atolls beyond.
Our comment: Parrot Cove Lodge is a good value resort and is in an ideal location to combine beach relaxation with underwater and inland adventures whilst still being close enough to enjoy the lovely Garifuna village of Hopkins.
