Southern Cayes

Ray Caye is a small and remote tropical island located 17 miles east of Placencia village in the southern region of Belize and has just 9 rooms. There is healthy coral on the south side of the island and snorkelling can be done from the pier. A highlight for anyone staying on the island is its close proximity to the Belize Barrier Reef for exceptional diving and in particular Gladden Spit where the whale sharks come around the full moon in April to June to feed on the spawning snapper. There is also excellent snorkelling at nearby Silk Cayes.

Getting there All inclusive resort package includes boat transfer from their mainland office, trips are timed with other guests arrival. Boat journey is approx. 45 minutes.

Rooms are in Oceanfront Cabanas with either one or two queen beds and are duplex units, with private balconies on the side. The honeymoon cabana is standalone unit and there are additional rooms. Rooms have air-conditioning, wifi, flat screen televisions with DVD player.

Dining occurs in the Lionfish Grill where the menu provides a good selection of meals cooked with local produce and fresh seafood.

Facilities and Activities: There is a small, freshwater pool near the bar and a grass volleyball court in the centre of the island. The island has a PADI dive operation onsite and there are ocean kayaks, pedal boats with canopy shade and Hobie Cats for guest use. Guided snorkelling trips to nearby Silk Cayes are available by boat or kayak.
